Esmalt j\u00e4i pisike kosmoselaev kinni, kui teadlased seda 2010. aasta l\u00f5pul FASTSAT&#8217;i satelliidist eraldada p\u00fc\u00fcdsid. NASA plaanib kosmoselaeva j\u00e4lgides uurida, kuidas seda saaks kasutada orbiidilt vanade satelliitide ning kosmosepr\u00fcgi \u00e4ra toomiseks. \u00dcmber Maa tiireldes liugleb P\u00e4ikesepuri atmosf\u00e4\u00e4ri \u00fclakihis ning aerod\u00fcnaamiline h\u00f5\u00f5rdumine toob selle l\u00f5puks orbiidilt alla, kus see siis atmosf\u00e4\u00e4ris \u00e4ra p\u00f5leb. NanoSail-D puhul peaks see juhtuma 120 p\u00e4eva jooksul, vahendab <a href=\"http:\/\/ecogeek.org\/component\/content\/article\/3423\">ecogeek.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kuigi NASA plaanib kodule l\u00e4hedale j\u00e4\u00e4da, kasutab Jaapani kosmoseprogramm JAXA P\u00e4ikesepurjeid s\u00fcgavamale kosmosesse reisimiseks. Eelmisel aastal lennutas JAXA planeetidevahelisse kosmosesse IKAROSe nimelise kosmoselaeva, kus see P\u00e4ikesevalguse r\u00f5hu abil Veenusest m\u00f6\u00f6da purjetas.
