State-of-the-art<br \/>\nstationary iterative methods such as Accelerated \u039b-iteration and Gauss\u2013Seidel schemes, using a short<br \/>\ncharacteristics-based formal solver are used. We also comment on typical numerical experiments<br \/>\nassociated to the basic non-LTE radiation problem.
