Kosmoselaeva robotandur on kaardistanud Kuud 2009. aastast alates ning on selle aja jooksul kogunud tuhandeid fotosid selle polaaraladest.<\/p>\n<p>Kuna mosaiikne Kuu on kaldu 1,54 kraadise nurga all (v\u00f5rrelduna Maa 23,5 kraadise kaldega), ei n\u00e4e m\u00f5ned selle piirkonnad kunagi p\u00e4ikesevalgust. LRO missiooni \u00fcheks eesm\u00e4rgiks on p\u00fcsivas varjus olevate piirkondade kindlaksm\u00e4\u00e4ramine.
