Kuida selliseid h\u00e4vitada lihaskudet kahjustamata?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Haigust tekitavaid baktereid tuleb tappa. Aga keeruline on leida meetodeid, mis oleks vajalikul m\u00e4\u00e4ral selektiivsed. N\u00e4iteks operatsioonidel kasutatakse haigust tekitavate bakterite h\u00e4vitamiseks UV lampe, aga ultravalgus v\u00f5ib ka patsiendi kudesid kahjustada. Kolumbia \u00fclikooli teadlased leidsid lihtsa meetodi &#8211; kui kasutada tavalise, 200-400 nm lainepikkusi sisaldava ultravalguse asemel vaid 207 nm lainepikkusega valgust kiirgavat ultravalguse allikat, siis selline valgus tapab bakterid palju suurema t\u00f5en\u00e4osusega, kui inimeste rakke. P\u00f5hjus tundub olevat selles, et inimeste rakud on m\u00f5\u00f5tmetelt suuremad (bakteri t\u00fc\u00fcpiline m\u00f5\u00f5de on 1 mikromeeter, inimese raku m\u00f5\u00f5tmed on t\u00fc\u00fcpiliselt 10-25 mikromeetrit), samas 207 nm valgus ei tungi kuigi s\u00fcgavale.
