We present a novel geometrical interpretation of the Rodrigues vector. Based on this<br \/>\ninterpretation and simple geometrical considerations, we derive the Euler\u2013Rodrigues formula,<br \/>\nCayley\u2019s rotation formula and the composition law for finite rotations.
