Et tegemist on proteiiniga, saab DNA molekuli kindlasse kohta lisada l&otilde;igu, mille p&otilde;hjal rakus GFP s&uuml;nteesitakse. Kui niisugune l&otilde;ik paigutada vahetult enne mingit funktsionaalset proteiini kodeeriva geeni stoppkoodonit, lisatakse selle proteiini k&uuml;lge GFP ja tema liikumist saab fluorestsentsi abil j&auml;lgida. <\/p>\n<p>GFP eraldas 1960ndatel Osamu Shimomura helendavatest millimallikatest Aequorea victoria. Martin Chalfie t&ouml;&ouml;tas v&auml;lja meetodeid GFP kasutamiseks markeerijana ja Roger Tsien leidis mooduse GFP-d modifitseerida nii, et see kiirgaks ka teisi v&auml;rve peale rohelise.
